If you love new card ideas, you'll love today's post!  I know it's been quite a while since I've blogged, so I figured I'd make up for it with LOTS of card samples and a reminder about my upcoming class.

Got Swaps?

 

I couldn't help but share this photo--Isn't this just SOOOO cute?!  These two "Got Swaps?" babies were photographed at Stampin' Up! Convention 2009, which I unfortunately didn't get to go to.  But it's a great reminder of WHY I became a Demonstrator, which is the relationships & sharing that happens between all of us stamp-addicted ladies.  There is nothing better than swapping ideas and making new friends, whether it's with my local demonstrator group or with total-strangers-turned-new-friends at Stampin' Up! events like Regionals & Leadership Conference.

Register Now for Upcoming Classes

I've got two great classes coming up, and you'll need to register soon before they fill up!

The first is a small-group scrapbooking class at my home in Noblesville, Indiana.  We'll be using the Sunny Day Simply Scrappin' Kit to make a great two-page 12x12 scrapbook layout OR an 8-page 6x6 mini album. 

• Date:  Saturday, August 15th, 10am-12pm
• Class Fee:  $20 (includes all supplies & instruction)

The second class is the annual "Make & Take" sponsored by a group of local Stampin' Up! Demonstrators.   We're offering 6 top-secret projects, including gorgeous "wow" cards and 3-D gift boxes.  There is space for 70 people, but you'll want to register early because this event ALWAYS sells out!

• Location:  Fishers United Methodist Church
• Class Fee:  $40 (included all supplies, instruction, & lunch)

Snowflake Votive Candle Holder

As promised, here is another project sample from the gift ensemble that I created for my demo group's White Elephant Swap last Friday.  This particular item is a clear glass votive candle holder that I purchased from a craft store, then decorated with snowflakes from the Season of Cheer Rub-Ons.  It was quick & easy to make, but it looks great and makes a nice gift.  (Would have made a perfect stocking stuffer for my mom, or maybe a teacher gift, if I hadn't already given it away in this swap.)

What exactly is a "White Elephant"???

Well, I actually *do* know what a "white elephant" swap is, although I'm used to calling it a "Yankee Swap."  (And for the record, I hadn't heard of a Yankee Swap either until I moved to New Enland in 2001.)  But for those who don't know, this type of swap involves small wrapped gift items of whatever theme the host desires.  Everyone draws a number, and you take turns choosing a gift from the pile.  Each person has the choice of keeping the gift they chose or stealing a gift from someone else in the group.  The exact rules vary a bit from one group to the next, but it's generally the most fun if there is a LOT of stealing involved!

Anyways, the reason I even bring this up is that our local Demonstrator Group is doing a White Elephant Swap this Friday night as part of our annual Christmas Party.  We each have to bring three hand-stamped items in a hand-stamped container, preferably made with exclusively Stampin' Up! products.  Tonight I'm showing you the first of the items that I made, and I'll share the rest with you over the next few days.

This "3-D Top Note Candy Bag Card" is a shameless copy of the one designed by Andrea Walford and posted to her blog earlier this month.  I obviously changed the stamp set, and I used rub-ons instead of a stamp for the greeting on the inside of the card.  Plus I decided to use a cello bag instead of a paper one, but the efffect is still pretty much the same.

Winter Post Thank-You Card

The photo didn't come out as nicely as I had hoped, as this card is much more beautiful in person.  The camera doesn't really pick up much of the glitter, so you really miss the pretty "snowy" effect.  However I thought I'd still share it since it has such a great, calm color scheme AND it's a perfect reminder for all of us to stamp some thank-you cards for our upcoming Christmas gifts!

This particular card is a swap that I received from Carol Johns, yet another member of my local Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Group here in central Indiana.  Carol has been very helpful & welcoming to me in my first few months here, and she was the one who actually invited me to my first group meeting. 

I don't have the full recipe for this card, but if you'd like it I can figure it out for you or get the info from Carol.  In the mean time, don't forget to check out the great deals in our Holiday Extravaganza Sale.  Three of the bundles have already sold out, so don't miss your chance!

Season's Greetings Acetate Card

This unique card was a swap from Thelma Antolin at our last Demonstrator Meeting.  The main body of the card is acetate, so it's transparent.  The snowflakes are stamped in white StazOn ink, which is perfect for a non-porous surface like acetate.
