Cupcake Birthday Thank-You Card

These are the thank-you notes that I made for my daughter's second birthday--If you gave her a gift, they'll be in your mailbox shortly!  I liked that they were easy to make, have a gender-neutral color scheme, and really do look cute if I do say so myself! 

Here's the supply list:

• Stamps:  Wagon Full of Fun (only available through June 30th), Sincere Salutations
• Ink:  Basic Black (Craft & Classic); Close to Cocoa, Certainly Celery, So Saffron, & Bashful Blue markers.
• Paper:  Certainly Celery, Baja Breeze, & Naturals White card stock; retired Designer Series paper*.
• Tools & Accessories:  Black embossing powder, embossing heat tool, powder pals, & embossing buddy; retired Sale-A-Bration 2009 Ribbon Bundle*.

*Suggested alternatives for the retired items I used:

• Designer Series Paper:  So Saffron Patterns DSP, Sweet Slumber Specialty Paper, Jackpot DSP, Washington Apple DSP, Flock Together DSP, Tea Party DSP, or Sunshine Garden Simply Scrappin' Kit.
• Ribbon Bundle:  5/8" Certainly Celery Grosgrain Ribbon.

I did also do a couple of these cards using rub-ons instead of the "thanks so much" stamp for the greeting.  Depending on the color of the rub-on, you can put it in the same spot as the stamp or try it right across the ribbon.  Give it a try on your own cards, then post a comment or email me with a photo or a link!

"Winter Fun" Scrapbooking Class

With all the snow we've had here in Indiana lately, I ended up with some GREAT photos of my daughter out playing in the backyard.  She's still young enough that she doesn't quite talk in complete sentences, so her request every day is "Go outside.  Play inna snow!"  This two page spread captures some of the best moments we've had enjoying the fluffy white stuff  :-)

Conveniently, this is also the layout we'll be creating at my upcoming Scrapbooking Class on Saturday February 14th.  I'll provide all of the tools, supplies, & instructions, so all you need to bring is a selection of your favorite winter photos and your $20 class fee. 

To be fair to those who pay to attend the class, I will not be posting detailed instructions or a supply list for this layout.  But I will share that we'll be using the Big Shot Die-Cut Machine, silver metallic embossing, and the beautiful Delicate Dots Designer Series Paper from the Sale-A-Bration brochure.  You'll have to attend the class for the rest of the recipe!

As usual, you can take advantage of this class offering in three different ways:

• Small Group Class:  Join me on Saturday February 14th from 10am-12pm at my home in Noblesville, Indiana.  Space at the table is limited, so priority will go to those who register early and pre-pay the $20 class fee.
• Class On the Go:  If you live in the general vicinity of Indianapolis, contact me to arrange your own personal class.  Just gather 4-8 of your friends (along with $20/person pre-payment), and I'll bring the class to you!
• Layout By Mail:  If you live too far away to take advantage of this class in person, you can also purchase the finished layout by mail.  The $20 fee includes the entire two-page 12x12 layout (minus photos) as well as shipping & handling.  Available only for U.S. addresses.

Christmas Stair-Step Card

This very cool card is another swap from Angie Gonzalez.  She found the basic design on SplitCoastStampers, then modified it for a Christmas theme.  To make it, simply take a 5" x 10-1/2" piece of card stock and score at 1-1/4", 2-1/2", 4-1/4", 6", and 8-1/4".  Then fold on your score lines to create the three "steps" or "mountains" of the card.  You can see this concept better in the side view:

Once you have the basic card shape done, then you can add embellishments with any supplies you choose.  Angie's card uses Season of Joy and Heart From the Heart stamp sets, and her color scheme is Basic Black, Real Red, Glorious Green, & Whisper White.

This would make a great place card for a holiday table setting, with each guest's name stamped on the bottom step.  Or, put a wallet-sized photo on the top step and send it out as a Christmas photo card!  There are endless possibilities with this one, so break out your stamps and get creative with it today!

Ski Slope "Let It Snow" Card

This beautiful card is another one of the great swaps I received at last Friday's Demonstrator meeting. It was stamped by Leanna Cardwell, and I think it's absolutely gorgeous.  Although you can't really tell from the photo, the snowman's head is covered in Dazzling Diamonds glitter and popped up on a Stampin' Dimensional to really give it some "oomph".

• Ink:  Basic Black ink pad; Real Red, Glorious Green, Basic Black, & Only Orange markers.
• Paper:  Real Red & Whisper White card stock; Ski Slope Designer Series Paper.

Wow! 3-D Christmas Triangle Card

 

As I mentioned in yesterday's post, I had the opportunity last night to meet up with a group of other Indianapolis-area Stampin' Up! Demonstrators.  Besides the fact that I always love a good stampin' event, I was also looking forward to just meeting some new people since I'm so new to this area.

We had a lot of good productive business talk, some fun chatting, yummy snacks, and BEAUTIFUL swap cards!  The one I'm sharing with you tonight is my favorite, and since I don't know the official name for the design I'm calling it a "3-D Triangle Card".  This particular one was stamped by Angie Gonzalez, although she tells me that the got the basic idea for the card from someone else.  Anyways, the cool thing about this card is that it folds up to fit into a standard sized envelope, but it also magically unfolds to become a 3-D stand-up decoration that you could display in your home or even use as a place card at your next dinner party!

Supply Lists, As Promised...

A little over a week ago, I posted photos of the three projects that we were going to be stamping at my mom's workshop on September 7th.  Although I'm running behind schedule, I didn't forget my promise to post the supply lists & instructions.  Here they are:

Heartfelt Thanks Glitter Card

• Stamps:  Heartfelt Thanks, Watercolor Vines jumbo wheel.
• Ink: Certainly Celery, Cameo Coral, Old Olive, & Ruby Red markers; Old Olive jumbo cartridge.
• Paper: Naturals White, Old Olive, & Ruby Red card stock.
• Accessories: 2-Way Glue Pen, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, Powder Pals.
• Special Instructions:  Use the two lighter-colored markers to ink the "background" portion of the flower image; use the two darker-colored markers for the "detail" portion.  Use the 2-way glue pen to apply adhesive anywhere that you want the glitter to stick to the image. 

Happy Birthday Wishes Card

• Stamps: Fun & Fast Notes, Word by Word background stamp (retired).
• Ink: Basic Brown, More Mustard.
• Paper: Naturals White, More Mustard, Close to Cocoa, Bordering Blue, & Ruby Red card stock.
• Accessories:  Watercolor Wonder Crayons, AquaPainters, Word Window punch.
• Special Instructions:  Place your background stamp rubber-side-up on the table and ink it thoroughly with your ink pad.  Place the More Mustard card stock onto the rubber surface, cover with a piece of scrap paper, and carefully rub over the whole piece to make sure that the image transfers well.  Stamp the birthday cake in Basic Brown waterproof ink, apply small scribbles of color using the Watercolor Wonder Crayons, and blend carefully with the AquaPainters.  Since I accidentally used a retired background stamp on this sample, I replaced it with the Canvas background stamp during the workshop.
   

Just B Happy 6x6 Scrapbook Page

• Stamps:  Just B.
  
• Ink:  Chocolate Chip & Really Rust.
  
• Paper:  Really Rust, Pumpkin Pie, Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla.
  
• Accessories:  1-3/8" Square Punch, Paper Snips, Stampin' Dimensionals.
• Special Instructions:  I didn't really use any special techniques on this page, but I did design it so that it can work with a photo that is either horizontal or vertical.  During the workshop I used a vertical photo of my mom with my daughter from last Thanksgiving, and I simply turned the whole page (including the words of the title) 90 degrees.  My mother kept that page as one of her Hostess Gifts, but I'll try to borrow it and post it when I have the chance. 

Many thanks to my mom for hosting a really fabulous workshop! The best part was hanging out with my grandmother, two aunts, and some favorite family friends who I hadn't seen for a while.  It was a diverse group, but everyone got along like old friends and we all had a great time stamping.  If you're looking for a "girls night in" activity for YOUR group of family & friends, please email me to discuss dates for a class or workshop.

Workshop Preview: Heartfelt Thanks Glitter Card
