Winter Post Thank-You Card

The photo didn't come out as nicely as I had hoped, as this card is much more beautiful in person.  The camera doesn't really pick up much of the glitter, so you really miss the pretty "snowy" effect.  However I thought I'd still share it since it has such a great, calm color scheme AND it's a perfect reminder for all of us to stamp some thank-you cards for our upcoming Christmas gifts!

This particular card is a swap that I received from Carol Johns, yet another member of my local Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Group here in central Indiana.  Carol has been very helpful & welcoming to me in my first few months here, and she was the one who actually invited me to my first group meeting. 

I don't have the full recipe for this card, but if you'd like it I can figure it out for you or get the info from Carol.  In the mean time, don't forget to check out the great deals in our Holiday Extravaganza Sale.  Three of the bundles have already sold out, so don't miss your chance!

Season's Greetings Acetate Card

This unique card was a swap from Thelma Antolin at our last Demonstrator Meeting.  The main body of the card is acetate, so it's transparent.  The snowflakes are stamped in white StazOn ink, which is perfect for a non-porous surface like acetate. 

This would be a pretty simple card to make, but it definitely stands out from the pack.  Email me if you'd like the full supply list or tips on how to make it.  And in the mean time, don't forget to take advantage of the great deals in our Holiday Extravaganza Sale!

Christmas Stair-Step Card

This very cool card is another swap from Angie Gonzalez.  She found the basic design on SplitCoastStampers, then modified it for a Christmas theme.  To make it, simply take a 5" x 10-1/2" piece of card stock and score at 1-1/4", 2-1/2", 4-1/4", 6", and 8-1/4".  Then fold on your score lines to create the three "steps" or "mountains" of the card.  You can see this concept better in the side view:

Once you have the basic card shape done, then you can add embellishments with any supplies you choose.  Angie's card uses Season of Joy and Heart From the Heart stamp sets, and her color scheme is Basic Black, Real Red, Glorious Green, & Whisper White.

This would make a great place card for a holiday table setting, with each guest's name stamped on the bottom step.  Or, put a wallet-sized photo on the top step and send it out as a Christmas photo card!  There are endless possibilities with this one, so break out your stamps and get creative with it today!

Scrapbooking Sunday: Family Photos

This is a quick scrapbook page that I just finished tonight using some family photos from last August.  My "system" is to get my photos printed, then file them chronologically in the page protectors of my scrapbook, along with whatever card stock I think will be my background color and maybe a post-it note with info about what I might want to journal.  These photos have been sitting ignored for quite a while, but tonight inspiration struck and I finally got the page completed.  (That's the nice part of my system--that I can scrapbook chronologically without having to actually do the work chronologically.)

This page was extremely simple, so I didn't use a whole lot of supplies:

• Stamps:  None
• Ink:  None (The title is computer-printed.)
• Paper:  Rose Red, Chocolate Chip, & Naturals Ivory card stock; Recollections Designer Series Paper (retired)
• Tools & Accessories:  Write Me A Memory Journaling Fonts CD (SU Heritage font), Paper Snips (for cutting out the title)

Scrapbooking Saturday: Ornament Swap

 

I sat down today to scrap some holiday pictures from Christmas 2007.  This particular set is from the annual Ornament Swap hosted by the Young Adults Group at our old church in New Hampshire.  We do a traditional "Yankee Swap", which involves a lot of "stealing" gifts from each other--which is always good for a lot of laughs!

This layout uses some of my favorite new products, including the Big Shot die cut machine, Ski Slope Designer Series Paper, and Season of Cheer Rub-Ons (on sale for 20% off this month).  Plus I used my secret weapon, the now-retired Scrapbooking Paper-Saving Template, to create a great layout with minimal paper waste.

Directions for the 3-D Triangle Card

I recently posted two examples of a very cool 3-D triangle card.  (Use these links to see Angie's version and my version.)  When I first posted I did not have the name of the person who created the card, but Angie has since told me that she got the idea from LeAnne's online Teepee Card Tutorial.  So for those of you who couldn't make my open house tonight, you can check out LeAnne's blog for all of the instructions.
